2019 MOST OUTSTANDING NIGERIAN STUDENT IN SOUTH AFRICA WINNER


PIPELOLUWA ADEGBENRO.

Pipeloluwa Adegbenro is a 22-year-old undergraduate student and aspiring Neurosurgeon at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (previously known as Medical University of South Africa/MEDUNSA). She is in her 6th and final year of earning a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree.
Pipeoluwa has been a top-achieving learner (Dux Scholar) in both high school and university education obtaining distinctions as cumulative average every year (until 5th year). She has won many merit awards for outstanding academic performance during the course of her university education. In her 2nd year, she was one of the Top 5 achieving students in a class of 270. In 3rd year, she was one of the Top 3 best students in Medical Microbiology as well as the top learner in Anatomical Pathology.

In November 2017, she was accepted as one of the 50 elective students worldwide at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. Subsequently, In December 2018, she represented her school at Oxford for a duration of 4 weeks, doing an elective in Neurosurgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital. 

Furthermore, she is one of the pioneers of the Students' Surgical Society at her university which was established in 2017. She was inaugurated as the head/coordinator of the Anatomy Workshops in the society that year and as the head of the Sponsorship Department the following year. Pipeoluwa is also a senior mentor at her school for the junior medical students who needed help adapting to the system especially academically and psychologically.

2018: Elective in Neurosurgery at Oxford University, United Kingdom.
